Upon completing the Iconography Project, how did it change our community?

The community of the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour worked together to honor their sacred theology by bringing the iconography project to fruition. It was through prayer, commitment, and faith that the parishioners completed the project, and many have expressed that being surrounded by the saints and martyrs gives them a feeling of spiritual transformation.

Why is Iconography important to Orthodox Christians?

For Orthodox Christians, the liturgy was designed to awaken all of the senses.

The vivid imagery of iconography sparks an unforgettable visual experience for parishioners. Originally, iconography was used to teach the lessons of Christianity to those who could not read, which is why it is not considered art. It is considered to be a form of writing and a window to heaven. The iconographer himself views it as an act of prayer.
