St. John was noted for his deep love of God and for his devotion to our Lord and Savior. He was one of only three Holy Apostles to be chosen to go up to the Mount Of Holy Transfiguration, and as the most beloved disciple of Christ, he was appointed by Christ to be the subsequent caretaker of His Holy Mother. He taught that without the love of God no one can please Him. St. John also taught that our fidelity in continually repenting and shunning all sin and striving to keep our commandments is proof of our love to God.
