St. John was noted for his deep love of God and for his devotion to our Lord and Savior. He was one of only three Holy Apostles to be chosen to go up to the Mount Of Holy Transfiguration, and as the most beloved disciple of Christ, he was appointed by Christ to be the subsequent caretaker of His Holy Mother. He taught that without the love of God no one can please Him. On Sunday, June 21, the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour was honored to have His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of America, preside over the Divine Liturgy.

The Divine Liturgy is the primary worship service in the Greek Orthodox Church. Parishioners and clergy come together in prayer, listen to Scripture, and partake in the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The service is ripe with symbolism and ancient traditions, epitomized by the iconography on the walls and ceiling of the church. As a whole, it is a truly beautiful experience.

So many amazing things have happened following the release of PISTEVO “I Believe,” but this has to be the most incredible one so far. The film was hand delivered to His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople on July 5. In the Eastern Orthodox Church, he is regarded as the “first amount equals,” and is the spiritual leader of the world’s 300 million Orthodox Christians. Patriarch Bartholomew was presented our film in Istanbul, Turkey, by the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour’s past Parish Council President, Dr. George Zimmar.

The emotional morning was capped off with a luncheon where the short film documenting the completion of the church’s iconography mission, PISTEVO “I Believe”, premiered to over 400 people. Altogether, it was a day the parishioners of the Greek Orthodox Church
